Horse care can be roughly divided into 4 types :

01

Grooming

Grooming refers to massaging, brushing as well rolling the horses in mud. Rolling in mud provides relief to the horse’s back after a ride in addition to cooling them down. After that, the horse is massaged with a currycomb to relax its muscles and finally brushed. Grooming helps improve the quality of the horse’s coat and is vital to keep the horse clean. It also provides an opportunity for the rider to check the horse for any cuts, injuries, etc.

03

Feeding

Horses need a balanced diet that includes hay, grain, and supplements. The amount of food that a horse needs will vary depending on its age, breed, activity level, and climate.

It is important to feed horses at regular intervals and to provide them with access to fresh water at all times.

02

Bathing

Giving the horse a bath is a great way to cool them down during the summers! It is also vital in removing tiny particles of dirt and foreign debris that may not get removed during grooming.

04

Stable Management and Tack:

This involves the maintenance and cleaning of the horse’s equipment, such as the saddle and the bridle, and that of the stable which includes the horse’s bedding, the quantity of hay in the stable, a constant availability of clean water for the horse as well as the upkeep of the stable itself.
