Who can volunteer? Anyone age 13 and up can volunteer!
What do volunteers do? Volunteers are extremely important to therapeutic riding, They help catch, groom and tack the horses for lessons, they help by leading the horses in the lessons and by side-walking with our riders to insure a safe lesson. They may also help with barn chores such as cleaning tack, mucking stalls, turning out horses or anything else to help the program run smoothly.
Why volunteer? Why not? You will have fun, you will learn and you will feel great that you were able to help someone. Plus, being around horses is a wonderful experience! Active volunteers are also offered horseback riding lessons at a discount if you would like to learn more!
Do I need to know a lot about horses? No, it would help if you
do know how to handle a horse, but it is not required. We will teach
you, volunteering is a great way to to learn about horses.
How do I get started? Contact Ann by email (you will be added on to a volunteer email list and will get weekly emails with volunteer times) then fill out the Volunteer Application and send it in to the address on the bottom of the last page!
Can I Ride? Yes, non therapeutic lessons are also available! Volunteers receive a discount ($40/hr instead of $60/hr). If you know how to ride, rent a horse for $30/hr (lesson required first to assess your skills).
Horses change lives. They give our young people confidence and self esteem. They provide peace and tranquility to troubled souls- they give us hope!
