Helping Hooves Equine Therapy Program

 Announcements!

1/2/12

We currently have three horses available for lease! Come meet them and decide which one works the best for you! You must have riding experience and be able to saddle/bridle and handle the horse by yourself!

Turner is a 8yr old 16H Appendix Quarter Horse (Thoroughbred/ Quarter horse cross). He is currently being used in the therapeutic riding program and I can trust him with any of my riders! He is very calm, sweet and willing. He is one of the sweetest horses I've ever owned! He is easy to ride as long as you aren't afraid to be a little aggressive (he can be lazy). He can be ridden English or western, he is great on trails and has jumped. He will take care of you! I am looking for someone to come ride him once a week and give him some extra attention and exercise and to help us pay his board. He would be great for someone who wants to improve their riding skills, have some horse time or get in to showing trail or English/Western Pleasure.

Gibson is a 14 year Old 15'2 Quarter Horse Gelding. He is super willing and a forward mover. He has been shown in 4-H, FFA, Open shows, and Rodeo. Western/English Pleasure, reining, gymkhana (gaming), Rodeo Drill team, and trail, he can do it all! He made Washington State 4-H Team in Gaming (Gymkhana) and was Green Horse Champion when he used to show in 4-H. He is by far the most fun horse I have ever owned. He gives 110% of anything you ask of him. He can go all day, but is also a very good listener. Since he is a forward mover, he needs someone with experience and confidence. He needs someone to help take care of him and give him some exercise, maybe even someone who wants to get into showing or trail riding.

Boomer is a 23 year old Quarter horse gelding. He is super sweet, always happy to greet visitors and has a great big heart! He is great with all ages, but best suited for a light rider or child. He has arthritis and cannot be ridden hard, but would be great for someone that just wants a good horse to ride around on or to teach their kids to ride. Boomer is currently retired from all but a few lessons, so he needs someone to take care of him a few times a week. He really is a special horse!

Come ride:

1 day per week: $125/month using our tack, $100/month using your tack (must fit horse!)
2 days per week: $225/month our tack, $200/month your tack
3 days per week: $325/month our tack, $300/month your tack
Add lessons for $45/hr, $30/half hour (normally $60/hr) (volunteers $30/hr)

Goodbye Buster!

Buster, who has been a dedicated therapy horse for the last year left us December 24th to retire in Arizona. Buster has had a long life and at 25 years old was ready to retire. He will be missed by many! Thanks Buster for the last year of your service and the happiness you brought many students!

Welcome Gibson!

Gibson has joined the lesson team. He is a 14 year old Quarter Horse Gelding. Ann's family has owned him for 7 years! He is a great listener, calm and very willing!

Gibson was shipped by trailer transport from Deming, Wa (Ann's parent's house) to the Saddle Club and arrived on December 12th. He is settling in great, has been doing both therapeutic and private lessons and is loving ranch sorting!

Welcome Slider!

We have a new horse to add to the lesson program for the therapeutic and non-therapeutic lessons. But he is not a new horse to Ann, in fact she and her family raised him from a baby! So here is a little about Slider. He is a 15H registered AQHA 15 year old gelding. His registered name is "3 O'clock Slider". Now there is a story behind his strange name. When Slider was born his mom died giving birth to him and was put down right then. So Slider was raised by Ann's family as an orphan, which meant they had to get up every few hours to bottle feed him when he was a baby (including every morning at 3). He was quite the character and liked to play by running back and forth in his pasture and then stopping and sliding on his stall mats.

Slider was not trained under saddle until he was 6, because he was raised by humans he had a personality more like a dog than a horse and did not understand work so he was a challenge at first. With the help of her mom and trainer Ann showed him in 4-H in the Green Horse Division (horses with less than 30 hours of professional training). He did very well his first year and took Reserve Champion. She started patterning him on Games (gymkhana) for the next couple years and continued to show him.

He has done performance (english and western), games, reining, rodeo, parades, drill team, trail. He took Overall Champion in the Northwest Reining Association Novice Division last year. He is very versatile and has a personality like no other horse! He is calm and not much spooks him so he will be great for the therapy program!

Slider was shipped by trailer transport from Deming, Wa to the Saddle Club and arrived on October 9th. He is settling in great and is already becoming a barn favorite!
